“ Must try if you like lor mee. Their fried prawns are superb, crispy and juicy on the inside. ”
“ Dinning here is like having a meal at a family reunion with a bunch of relatives you haven't met. It's definitely not fine dining but it is comfortable. This is a great place to have a taste of good old fashioned home cooking. The chili clams were cooked to perfection, the seafood noodles generously drenched in sauce, and the fried fish filets cooked the way my mom and my grandma would at home. Although this place is pretty good for my first experience I heard that it doesn't compare to how it use to be. The food use to be better and the wait for a tables longer. Hopefully they pull their act back together and not just rely on the namesake. ”
“ Was brought to this place for dinner to try authentic Heng Hwa dishes. I'm not exactly an expert on cultural food but I guess, so as long it tastes great, it's good food that one should not miss! There's no fancy presentation of food, just regular food served in regular dishes. But man, the food tastes awesome! I dont quite know what's the name of the dishes but the soup dish is supposedly the Heng Hwa mee sua but the noodle is rather thick, kinda like the Yew Mee version of handmade noodles. The soup is extremely tasty with prawns, vegetable and clams. The bee hoon is cooked dry. Though it does not have any gravy, it's actually very flavourful. Not sure if it's a Heng Hwa thing but most of the dishes are cooked with clams and you bet they taste fantastic. Besides the clams that comes with the main dishes, everyone's table has a side order of Clams in a rich gravy that is pretty spicy. So for lovers of spicy food, that is a Must Order! Till my next visit, I shall remember the wonderful lingering aftertaste. ”
“ Whenever I want comfort Heng Hwa food, which is all the time (especially when it rains.. weird!).. I come to Ming Chung. Its more famous 'rival' Pu Tien nearby has gone mainstream/upscale and expanded to many locations including abroad, but Ming Chung remains a homey little Heng Hwa joint even though they have renovated one half of the shop -- such that it's no longer a dingy little dark kopitiam. It also comes with free scowls, as any good Chinese place worth its salt must have, in the form of grumpy waiters/assorted family members who clearly come from the old school of Chinese-style 'service'. The food is good. Everything with seafood and pork is great. Especially the lor mee, lor bee hoon, mee sua and other dishes. Also try the prawn roll and deep fried fish roe. The fried batang fish is one of the specialties too. ”
